About

Dr. Larry Brilliant has spent five decades at the intersection of medicine, technology, and global action, and he is still not done.

As a WHO medical officer in the 1970s, he was a key member of the team that eradicated smallpox, one of the most lethal diseases in human history. He then co-founded Seva Foundation, which has restored sight to more than 10 million blind people across two dozen countries. In 1985, long before "for good" became a buzzword, he co-founded The Well — one of the world's first online communities — driven by the belief that the internet could empower people rather than exploit them. He went on to serve as Vice President of Google and founding head of Google.org, and later as CEO of the Skoll Global Threats Fund, working on pandemics, climate, and catastrophic risk.

He chaired the White House National Biosurveillance Advisory Subcommittee and served as a CNN Medical Analyst throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, as founder and CEO of Evity.ai, he is bringing AI and epidemiology together to extend healthy human longevity for everyone, not just the privileged few. His awards include the TED Prize, TIME 100, and a UN Global Leadership Award.
