About

Dr. David T. Jones is a behavioral neurologist and Director of the Neurology Artificial Intelligence Program (NAIP) at Mayo Clinic. He is internationally recognized for his work at the intersection of clinical neurology, quantitative neuroimaging, and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Jones specializes in cognitive and behavioral neurology, with a focus on early-onset and atypical Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and limbic-predominant syndromes. He developed the first clinical criteria for dysexecutive Alzheimer’s disease and introduced a novel limbic-predominant amnestic neurodegenerative syndrome. His research combines advanced PET and MRI techniques with computational modeling to uncover functional brain network disruptions across the spectrum of neurodegeneration.

A clinician-scientist by training, Dr. Jones has led major efforts in translational neuroimaging and data-driven biomarker development, including the design and deployment of StateViewer, a graph-based diagnostic AI system integrated across Mayo Clinic's clinical enterprise. His work aims to build validated, scalable, and equitable neurotechnology platforms that bring precision medicine to neurological care.

Dr. Jones has authored over 200 publications and contributed foundational insights into network-based models of dementia, the use of FDG-PET in atypical presentations, and the application of machine learning to multimodal brain data. His work has been recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association, Mayo Clinic, and multiple national research programs.
